Iranian actor wins award at Salento filmfest

Iranian actor Mohammad-Reza Hedayati is awarded at the Salento Int’l Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian actor Mohammad-Reza Hedayati has been awarded at the 17th Salento International Film Festival (SIFF) in Italy.

Iranian media reported Hedayati was named the Best Actor at the SIFF for his role in Iranian feature film ‘Simin’.

Directed by Morteza Atashzamzam, ‘Simin’ is about the reasons behind the drying up of Iran’s Zayandeh Rood, the largest river in the central Iranian Plateau, and its impacts on people, especially the farmers.

Besides Hedayati, the film is starring Laleh Eskandari and Mohammad Feyli.

Iranian short film ‘One Night in Tehran’ by Farhad Najafi was named the best film at the Italian festival.

The short film also brought Rouzbeh Rayga the Best Cinematography award at the event.

‘One Night in Tehran’ is about a girl who is looking for happiness within the chaos of this swallowing world. She, unaware of how her life is going to change forever, takes a cab at night.

The 17th Salento International Film Festival took place in September and the awards ceremony was scheduled for late November due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the new restrictions forced the cancellation of the ceremony, and the list of winners was published recently.
